Eugene Youth Symphony presents some of the greater Eugene/Springfield area's finest student musicians in exciting concerts featuring outstanding soloists and demanding orchestral music. All qualified musicians through age 21 may audition annually for membership. Rehearsals are held Monday evenings at South Eugene High School.
The Eugene Youth Symphony meets Monday evenings between 6:45 and 9:00 p.m. in the Band Room at South Eugene High School and is conducted by Richard Long. The EYS is a full symphonic orchestra. The maximum age for an EYS member is twenty-one years of age. The participation fee is $370. Auditions are held annually in the spring. Auditions for the 2008-2009 orchestra will be held June 16th & 17th for string instruments and June 18th for woodwinds,brass and percussion. Eligibility: Make sure you understand the commitment you are making. Attendance requirements will be strictly enforced.
Important! All members of the Eugene Youth Symphony are expected to play the instrument they play in their Arts Umbrella ensemble in a band or orchestra at their school. School band and orchestra teachers will be contacted to verify participation in a school group. A very limited number waiver options are available.
